Incommunicability

AI can illuminate hidden aspects of our minds and creativity, much like a mirror reflecting the depths of our consciousness.

The project “Incommunicability” explores the universal theme of lack of communication and emotional connection, through eight photographs that capture moments of silence, distance and loneliness, inviting the viewer to reflect on the complexity of human relationships and the difficulty of truly communicating with others.

The use of the 16:9 aspect ratio helps to create a cinematic atmosphere and emphasize the surreal and dreamlike aspect of the representations.

The photographs were created through the use of different artificial intelligence and photo editing software in order to expand the boundaries of artistic expression, opening up new perspectives and inviting us to explore the deep meaning behind every silence.

The installation “Incomunicabilità” consists of 8 photographs artificially created using artificial intelligence tools and photo editing programs. Despite the different locations and the protagonists, there is a common thread between the photos that invites us to reflect on moments in which the dialogue is lost, leaving room for an increasingly pressing and silent void. Walls, both real and mental, multiply and hide possible solutions, making communication even more difficult. Every photograph has walls that divide, even when the characters are in the same environment. Sometimes, these walls show glimmers or gaps that allow us to glimpse the idealization, the solution or a salvific reality. This world, desired but unattainable, could be represented by nature, where communication was possible and healing. rretrievable due to inability or fear.

The man is alone, surrounded by his loved ones, but lost within the walls of his home, silent and powerless in the face of events. The style of the photos, with cold, nocturnal light, together with the composition, emphasizes the artificiality of the representations. The surreal and dreamlike atmospheres invite the viewer to look beyond the simple reproduction of reality, encouraging them to reflect on their own world and desire for communication.

The aspect ratio of the photographs, 16:9, recalls a cinematic vision. Each photograph is a still image of a larger movie. What happened before? What will happen next? Maybe there’s a happy ending?

L’installazione “Incomunicabilità” è composta da 8 fotografie create artificialmente utilizzando strumenti di intelligenza artificiale e programmi di fotoritocco. Nonostante le diverse location e i protagonisti, c’è un filo conduttore tra le foto che ci invita a riflettere su momenti in cui il dialogo si perde, lasciando spazio a un vuoto sempre più pressante e silenzioso.

I muri, sia reali che mentali, si moltiplicano e nascondono possibili soluzioni, rendendo la comunicazione ancora più difficile. Ogni fotografia presenta muri che dividono, persino quando i personaggi sono nello stesso ambiente. A volte, questi muri mostrano spiragli o varchi che lasciano intravedere l’idealizzazione, la soluzione o una realtà salvifica. Questo mondo, desiderato ma irraggiungibile, potrebbe essere rappresentato dalla natura, dove la comunicazione era possibile e guaritrice. Tuttavia, oggi quel mondo sembra irrecuperabile a causa dell’incapacità o della paura.

L’uomo è solo, circondato dai suoi cari, ma perso tra i muri della sua casa, silenzioso e impotente di fronte agli eventi. Lo stile delle foto, con luce fredda e notturna, insieme alla composizione, enfatizza l’artificialità delle rappresentazioni. Le atmosfere surreali e oniriche invitano lo spettatore a guardare oltre la semplice riproduzione della realtà, incoraggiandolo a riflettere sul proprio mondo e sul desiderio di comunicazione.

Il formato delle fotografie, 16:9, richiama una visione cinematografica. Ogni fotografia è un fermo immagine di un filmato più ampio. Cosa è accaduto prima? Cosa accadrà dopo? Forse c’è un lieto fine?
